Amna Nawaz is a famous broadcast journalist and news anchor. She is, however, the chief correspondent and fill-in anchor for PBS NewsHour. In addition to that, Amna was an anchor and correspondent at  NBC News and ABC News. After that, she joined PBS News in April 2018 and Nawaz has received numerous awards such as a Society for Features Journalism award and  Emmy Award.

Amna joined NBC News in the year 2003. She later joined Dateline NBC, where she worked on documentaries. Nawaz was with the NBC investigative unit, where she became its producer for Mortgage Crisis Investigations. The program was nominated for the 2008 Emmy Awards for Business & Financial Reporting.

In addition, in 2009, Nawaz received an International Reporting Project fellowship. She did share a News & Documentary Emmy Award for the NBC News special Inside the Obama White House. After that, Amna became the correspondent and bureau chief for NBC’s Islamabad bureau.

ABC News

She joined ABC News in the year 2015. Later, she was given a role to anchor the U.S. election and also national political coverage in 2016 and 2017. She also did host the ABC podcast series Uncomfortably.

PBS News

In April 2018, Nawaz joined PBS News as a correspondent. She, however, did contribute as a correspondent on the PBS NewsHour’s 2018 series The Plastic Problem, for which she did receive a Peabody Award in 2019.

Nawaz, in December 2019, became the first Asian American and first Muslim to moderate a United States presidential debate when she refereed a Democratic Party presidential debate.  Nawaz became the PBS NewsHour’s Chief Correspondent in June 2021.
