At the age of 9 years old, Adam made his acting debut in a BBC radio version of Ernest Hemingway’s My Old Man. When he was eleven years old, he did play Prince Giovanni in The White Devil at The Old Vic. His early career also includes performances at the National Theatre in Harold Pinter’s Close of Play and also Lillian Helman’s Watch on the Rhine. After taking on the lead role in the 1984 BBC TV production of J. Meade Falkner’s Moonfleet, Adam rose to national popularity.
