Betsy Brandt is an American actress. She is well known for portraying the role of Marie Schrader in Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013 and its spinoff show, Better Call Saul 2022, and also took a role as Heather Hughes in the CBS sitcom Life in Pieces from 2015 to 2019.

She attended Bay City Western High School in Auburn, Michigan where she did graduate in 1991. After that, Betsy did developed a passion for theater at a young age, but unlike many of her friends, she preferred to direct stage musicals rather than perform in them. She then turned her attention to acting after earning the lead in a high school production of Exit the Body.
However, at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Brandt did receive a BFA in acting in 1996. Then she completed her MFA program at Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training and went on to complete an exchange program at Glasgow’s Royal Scottish Academy of Music and also Drama. Following graduating, she relocated to Seattle, Washington, where she did work in theater and made appearances in a number of short films, starting with 1998’s Confidence. Later, Brandt relocated to Los Angeles.

In her acting career with the Arizona Theatre Company, the San Jose Repertory Theatre, Beth Henley’s Ridiculous Fraud, South Coast Repertory, Julia Cho’s The Language Archive, and the Geffen Playhouse, Betsy has been in theater productions of Much Ado About Nothing. On the television programs Without a Trace, Judging Amy, ER, Boston Legal, The Practice, and NCIS, she appeared in guest roles.
Brandt did played Marie Schrader in the AMC drama series Breaking Bad from 2008 to 2013. before receiving the invitation to play Marie, she had three other roles that she had to audition for. Later she was chosen to play Sandy in Parenthood in 2012. On The Michael J. Fox Show, which debuted in September 2013, Betsy was cast as Annie Henry. However, Reviews of her performance were favorable. For the Better Call Saul season finale, she did play Marie Schrader once more.
Furthermore, Brandt was hired in 2014 to portray a key role in Susannah Grant’s ABC drama series Members Only, but the project was unfortunately canceled. She then played Heather Short Hughes in the CBS comedy series Life in Pieces from 2015 until 2019. After four seasons, the show was canceled.
Brandt was announced to be portraying Cleo in the NBC sitcom Jefferies’ premiere episode in 2020. Jim Jefferies together with Suzanne Martin wrote the comedy. The pilot has not been broadcast as of yet.
