Dan Irvin Rather jr is an American journalist and former national news anchor. However, he reported from Dallas in November 1963 at the time President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Dan Rather Family
Generally, he is an American citizen by birth having been born in Wharton, Texas. However, he is the son of Daniel Irvin Rather Sr who was a ditch digger and pipe layer. Apart from that, he was also a former Bryl Veda Page. When he was a child the family moved to Houston where he did his education.

While they were in Houston he went to Lovett Elementary School and Hamilton Middle School. Afterward, he graduated in 1950 from John H. Reagan High School in Houston. Later on, in the year 1953, he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas. Apparently, when he was there he was the editor of the school newspaper. Apart from that, he was also a member of the Caballeros, the founding organization of the Epsilon Psi chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
However, when he was still in college he worked for KSAM-FM radio in Huntsville, calling junior high, high school, and Sam Houston State football games. Afterward, he earned his undergraduate degree, he shortly went to South Texas College of Law in Houston.

So, he began his journalism career in 1950 as an Associated Press reporter in Huntsville, Texas. Later on, he was a reporter for United Press, several Texas radio stations, and the Houston Chronicle. Around 1955, he did a piece on heroin. Apparently, under the auspices of the Houston Police, he was trying a dose of the drug.
Later on, in 1959, he began his television career as a reporter for KTRK-TV, the ABC affiliate in Houston. Thereafter, he was subsequently the director of news for KHOU-TV, the CBS affiliate in Houston.
Afterward, in 1965, he was a foreign correspondent for CBS in London, and in 1966 in Vietnam. Apart from that, he served again as a White House correspondent during the presidency of Richard Nixon. Later on, he was the anchor for the CBS Sunday Night News and later for the CBS Saturday Evening News
So, after President Nixon’s resignation in 1974, he became a chief correspondent for the documentary series CBS Reports. However, in December 1975, he became a correspondent of the long-running Sunday night news show 60 Minutes. Apparently, at the time the program was from a Sunday afternoon time slot to primetime.
In June 2006, reports surfaced that CBS News would most likely not renew its contract. So, according to a Washington Post article, sources from CBS cleared that executives at the network decided that there is no future role for Rather.
Following his departure from CBS, he joined Mark Cuban’s cable network AXS TV to host and produce the weekly one-hour news show Dan Rather Reports from 2006 until 2013. However, on January 21, 2018, it was that he would be launching a weekly 30-minute newscast on The Young Turks.
