Gustaf Skarsgård is a Swedish actor. He became prominent for his roles in The Way Back in 2010, Evil in  2003, and Kon-Tiki in 2012. Skarsgård also did appear in n the History Channel series Vikings from 2013 to 2020 as Floki, in the HBO TV series Westworld in 2018, and as Merlin in the Netflix TV series Cursed in 2020.

Gustaf was born to both loving and caring parents in Stockholm, Sweden. His father Stellan Skarsgård is also a Swedish actor. However, his father has two wives the first one My Skarsgård is a physician. His mother the first wife to his father has six children including Sam, Bill,  Alexander, Eija, and Valter.

While the second wife of his father  Megan Everett has two sons Ossian and Kolbjörn. So his other three siblings are also actors Alexander, Bill, and Valter. In addition to that, he has a godfather Peter Stormare. who is also a Swedish actor.

He went to the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting in Stockholm from 1998 to 2003. After that, he did join the Royal Dramatic Theatre, in Stockholm. While studying  Gustaf did play in several of Shakespeare’s, Chekhov’s, and also Söderberg’s works both at the Royal Dramatic Theatre and at Stockholm City Theatre.


He began his career in 1989 featuring in the short film Prima Ballerina, where he did play a ballet pupil. Still, in the same year, Gustaf starred in the Swedish Film Codename Coq Rouge. Skarsgård did continued with numerous  children’s and youth roles, for example,  Skuggornas hus in 1996, and Min vän Percys magiska gymnastikskor  in 1994.

After that in 2003, Skarsgård did perform in Evil and in 2008 in Patrik 1,5. for both roles, he was then nominated for the Guldbagge Award as Best Supporting Actor and Best Leading Actor. Still in the year 2003, Gustaf was was awarded the Shooting Star at the Berlin International Film Festival. In addition to that, he also won the Guldbagge as Best Leading Actor for his performance in Förortsungar.

Later in 2012, Gustaf did join the History Channel’s series Vikings in the main role of Floki, the shipbuilder. Then in 2018, he was also featured in the cast of Westworld as Karl Strand for five episodes.

Furthermore, In 2020 March, He starred in the main role of Merlin, in Cursed, a Netflix original television series based on a re-imaging of the Arthurian legend.
