Louis Sebastian Theroux is a British American documentary filmmaker, journalist, broadcaster, and author. He has received two  British Academy Television Awards and a Royal Television Society Television Award. Later moved to the US after graduating from oxford university. In addition, he worked as a journalist for Metro Silicon Valley and Spy. Thereafter Theroux moved into television as the presenter of offbeat segments on Michael Moore’s TV Nation series. So he started his own Documentaries, together with When Louis Met, Weird Weekends, and several BBCTwo specials.

Family

Sabastian is the son of English mother Anne and American travel writer and novelist Paul Theroux. The mother was an Italian-American grammar school teacher. on the other hand, his paternal grandfather, Albert Eugène Theroux, was a French-Canadian salesman.

Moreover has an older brother, Marcel who is a writer and television presenter. Then his cousin   Justin is an actor and screenwriter. However, Louis moved to England with his family when he was one year. Therefore he was brought up in London.

Theroux attended  Tower House School in East Sheen, and later went to  Westminster School, a public school within the surroundings of Westminster Abbey. So he became friends with  Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish who are comedians. In addition, he became a friend to future Liberal Democrat politician Nick Clegg, with whom he traveled to America.

In school, Louis performed in numerous theatre production including, Bugsy Malone as Looney Bergonzi. In addition to that, he did  Ritual for Dolls as the Army Officer and Splendour Falls as the Minstrel. later on read Modern History at Magdalen College, Oxford (1988–1991), graduating with first-class honors.

 Career

Louis first got his employment in the United States working with  Metro Silicon Valley. In addition to that, he alternated in a free weekly newspaper in San Jose, California. He was hired as a writer in a spy magazine in 1992. Similarly, Louis worked as a correspondent on Michael Moore’s TV Nation series, then provided segments on off-beat cultural subjects. It included selling Avon to women in the Amazon Rainforest.

He was signed to a development deal by the BBC after Nation Tv ended and it developed Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends. Louis has guest-written for a number of publications, including Hip Hop Connection, and he continues to write for The Idler. During weird weekends Theroux followed magical subcultures such as black nationalists, white supremacists, survivalists, and porn stars this was from 1998 to 2000.

In the series  When Louis Met, He accompanied a different British celebrity in each program in their daily lives, interviewing them as they go. In one of his episodes about British entertainer Jimmy Savile. it was 2005 voted the best and a top documentary of all time, by Britain’s Channel 4. BBC TWO SPECIALS was the program that began in 2003. Theroux returned to American themes, working at feature-length and in a more natural way.

Later on, Louis signed a new deal with BBC, So he made 10 films over the course of three years. Secondly, the subjects for the specials include criminal gangs. It was in Lagos,ultra-Zionists in Israel, and Neo-Nazis in America. Later visited child psychiatry together with prison systems in  California and Florida. In 2016 Louis premiered in Theroux premiered a feature-length documentary that was entitled My Scientology Movie.
