Born into a prominent and wealthy family, she began working as a book reviewer and restaurant critic and then embarked upon a career as a freelance journalist, writing for several newspapers and magazines. Her cookery books are international bestsellers.

However, before that, Lawson worked for the magazine as a writer for book reviews, and later she secured a job at a restaurant in 1985. Later she joined The Sunday Times where she worked as editor in 1986 when she was at the age 26 years old. After The Sunday Times, she embarked upon a freelance writing career.
Then in 1998, Lason worked as a guest cook working for Channel 4 cookery series Nigel Slater’s Real-Food Show.
Initially, established a sense of cooking from her childhood, having had a mother who enjoyed cooking. So she conceived the idea of writing a cookbook after she observed a dinner party host in tears because of an unset crème caramel.
In addition to that, in November 2003, Nigella oversaw the menu and prepared for a lunch that was hosted by Tony Blair at Downing Street for George W. Bush and his beloved wife during their state visit to the United Kingdom. During this time, Nigella made appearances on American television in 2004 and conducted cookery slots on talk shows.
On 18 January 2016 announced that it would make a return to Australian television, joining the eighth series of MasterChef Australia as a guest judge, alongside the returning judges. She returned to the show for the tenth series in 2018 and the eleventh series in 2019.

Later on, in the year 1980, when Nigella was 20, her parents divorced. After her parents divorced, they both remarried. Her father married Therese Maclear House of Commons researcher, They were together until 2008 when they got a separation, then her mother married A. J. So at the time, her father was a prominent political figure, and Nigella found some of the judgments and preconceptions that were formed about her frustrating. She has attributed her unhappiness as a child, in part, to the problematic relationship she had with her mother.

Consequently, at the age of 48 years old, Lawson’s mother died of liver cancer in Westminster. Coming after her siblings are her brother, Dominic, former editor of The Sunday Telegraph, sister Horatia, and sister Thomasina, who died of breast cancer in her early thirties in 1993.
However, she has a half-brother, Tom, who is currently headmaster at Eastbourne College, and a half-sister, Emily Tom. Emily is her father’s child by his second wife. In addition to that, she is a cousin to both George Monbiot and Fiona Shackleton through the Salmon family.

In June 2013, photographs were in magazines of the husband taking hold of her around the neck during an argument outside a London seafood restaurant. Subsequently, Lawson claimed that, while giving evidence, she observed casual cruelty and controlling behavior by Saatchi. This made her unhappy and drove her to occasional drug use.
So later on, in July, Saatchi announced his divorce from Lawson. However, court papers showed that it was Lawson who applied for divorce, citing ongoing unreasonable behavior.
