Trevor Phillips (Sir Mark Trevor Phillips) is a British writer broadcaster and former politician. He actually served as Chair of the London Assembly from the year 2000 to 2001. Moreover, he presented Trevor Phillips on Sunday and many others. However, he was appointed the head of the commission for racial equality by the Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2003 and was the chairman of its successor.

Previously, he worked as a researcher for London Weekend Television (LWT), before being promoted to head of current affairs in 1992, remaining in the post until 1994. However, he produced and presented The London Programme for LWT and has worked on projects for the BBC and Channel 4.
Additionally, he covered for Sophy Ridge’s Sky News Sunday morning programme Sophy Ridge on Sunday whilst she was on maternity leave. Apparently, his programme was temporarily rebranded as Trevor Phillips on Sunday. As a student at Imperial he became president of its students’ union. In 1978 he was electoral president of the National Union of scholars as a candidate for the Broad Left. later he was suspended from Labour following allegations of prejudice.
Following the suspension, he defended his comments about British Muslims on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. Afterward the 2005 riots in France, he warned that “inequality, race and powerlessness” can be “incendiary”. Moreover, he was invited to advise the French government and in September 2007 was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. Furthermore, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1999 New Year Honours for services to broadcast journalism. Eventually, he received a knighthood in the 2022 New Year Honours in recognition of his services to equality and human rights.
