Kevin Merida is an American newspaper editor, author, and Journalist. He is presently serving as an executive editor at the Los Angeles Times. In addition to that, At Los Angeles Times he oversees and interrelates all newsgathering operations such as the Sports and Features departments,  city, and national desks together with Times Community News and Los Angeles Times en Español.

Later went to Boston University and after graduating he did go to the University of California where he took Berkeley’s “Summer Program for Minority Journalists.”


Kevin’s journalism and research mostly involve biographies about “difficult subjects,” as described by the Houston Institute for Race and Justice. He also covers events on biographical subjects such as Newt Gingrich,  Strom Thurmond, Bob Dole, and George W. Bush.

Kevin began his career as a journalist working at the Milwaukee Journal and from 1979 to 1983, he also did serve as general assignments reporter and also the rotating city desk editor.

Later in 1983, he was enrolled in the “Dallas Morning News”, where at first he did work as special projects reporter and local political writer. After his good job, Merida got a promotion to Washington-based national correspondent and also the White House correspondent covering the George H.W. Bush presidency.

He was employed by The Washington Post in 1993. throughout his 22-year career at the paper, metropolis served as a legislative assembly correspondent, national political newsman, long-form feature author, magazine journalist, and senior editor in many roles. He was the coordinating editor of the Post’s long 2006 series, “Being a Negroid,” which was featured in the newspaper. The series attained a pedagogue Award for increasing “our ability to grasp the previous problems in new ways in which,” and for its “melding of previous and new varieties of journalism and inform to the long run of transmission.”

Furthermore, Kevin became Assistant Managing Editor at The Washington Post for the paper’s United States national news department. Merida also led the national staff for four years during the Obama presidency.


Later on, on the 4th of February 2013, was entitled the managing editor, “responsible for the news and also features coverage as well as the Universal News Desk,” Kevin also serves on the boards of the Pulitzer Prizes, the Boston University Board of Trustees and WBUR-FM.

In 2020, He did get the title of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the Gwen Ifill College of Media, Arts, and Humanities, Simmons University.

Apparently, he is a husband to  Donna Britt who is the former Washington Post columnist, journalist, and author. They tied the knot in 1992 and the couple lives together in Los Angeles.
